Among these was the introduction of semi-democratic reforms that saw limited elections. Politics was reinventing itself from the top down at a rapid pace. The collapse of the USSR and the subsequent economic and social crisis in Russia radically changed forever the political landscape in this сountry. The multi-party system replaced the communist party domination. The rapidly developed social and property differentiation, the complexity and depth of a crisis, the ideological confrontation, the low level of the political culture and some other factors determined the diversity and instability of the multi-party system in Russia, including its left-wing spectrum.
