Aigine Cultural Research Center is pleased to announce its upcoming
international seminar on Living Epics and Contemporary Epic Reciters
to be held on June 26 - July 2 2012 on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan.
The goal of the seminar is to discuss, analyze and compare the current
state of different world epics and contemporary scientific works and
approaches in studying them. In this regard, the situation with the
great Kyrgyz epic Manas presents much interest and tackles many issues.
Aigine CRC intends to invite one active epic reciter and one scholar
doing research on the epic from the region/country/tradition.
Participants are expected to deliver 20 minute lecture on the current
situation around the epic and epic reciters. It is also expected that
the epic performer will take part in the discussion and, certainly,
will recite a piece from the epic.
Seminar registration fee is 200 Euro that will cover local
transportation and meal. We are not able to pay an honorarium for the
delivered lecture, but Aigine CRC will compensate it by organizing a
diverse cultural program and visits to sacred sites in Kyrgyzstan.
Please submit your application outlining the subject and preliminary
draft of the lecture to office(at)aigine.kg not later than Friday,
March 30, 2012.
Selection results will be available on May 15, 2012
